3 Things Your Hair Needs During Lockdown

Is your country in full lockdown? Is your city in enforced quarantine? Or maybe you have a curfew n your own subdivision? One single virus brought a lot of changes (and CRAZINESS) in our once mundane life. You may don't know what's going to happen next but that doesn't mean have to stress over it. Taking care of your health AND HAIR is the best thing you can do right now.

Taking care of your health and HAIR is the best thing you can do right now.

In this post, I'm going to tell you 3 THINGS that your hair needs right now to prevent hair loss and hair damage during the lockdown.

Vitamin D

Being in lockdown and in quarantine means you have to stay at home during the daytime. This is to help stop the spread of the virus. Now, this is absolutely the right thing to do, however, it comes with a risk in our hair. Being indoors during daytime means less time with the sun putting us at risk of Vitamin D deficiency.

Vitamin D is an important nutrient for optimal blood flow which helps to deliver other essential nutrients to your scalp. A recent study found that women suffering from hair loss had significantly lower Vitamin D levels compared to those who weren’t suffering from hair loss.

What To Do About It

To make sure you’re still getting enough Vitamin D, try to catch the early sun, which is 6 am to 8 am, and soak for at least 20 minutes per day. If you can't get any sunlight, then you should take a Vitamin D supplement. But, remember, the good old sun is still the best source of Vitamin D.

Exercise

Being in the comfort of your own home 24 hours a day makes it increasingly harder to exercise. Exercise is very important because it promotes blood flow to every inch of your body, including your scalp. Exercising also helps boost your immune system for you to stay healthy during the virus season.

What To Do About It

With all the gyms closed, try a short 10 minute Youtube workout video for a week. By the second week, find a 20 minute Youtube workout video. By the third week, your own body will crave that heart-pumping exercise. Try to incorporate exercise in your lockdown routine to combat hair loss due to a lack of movement and exercise

Avoid Stress And Anxiety

If there's one thing you should avoid during these crazy times, it should be stress and having anxiety over everything. Stress is not only bad for your health but also for your HAIR. Anxiety is hurting more than just your mental health. During moments of anxiety, your body goes into fight or flight mode which shuts down non-essential function which includes your hair growth cycles.

What To Do About It

There's only one solution to stress and anxiety than can damage your hair: Remember that you simply cannot control everything in your life. Commit to God the things that are bothering you and giving you anxiety. God is the only one who can lift that burden from you.

Please stay safe and healthy and comment below what you think your hair needs during these CRAZY times!
