I fell in love with Cedarwood through the recipe of Mermaid Spray. Cedarwood is one of the ingredients on this recipe because it supports a healthy-looking hair, promotes thickness of hair and combats hair loss.

From that, I ventured on adding it on my skin care routine because Cedarwood has skin-cleansing properties and helps maintain the appearance of youthful skin and really moisturize my skin

Now, the history. I do love good old history, don't you?

The Biblical Cedars of Lebanon are the Cedrus libani, which are very closely related to the cedars in contemporary Cedarwood oil. For the closest connection to the Biblical cedar, look for oils that contain species of the genus Cedrus rather than the ones that contain Juniperus virginiana, which is the North American red cedar.

Historically, ancient Egyptians used Cedarwood oil in cosmetics, insect repellant, ceremonial rites and embalming agent. During the final step of the mummification process, a resin containing Cedarwood oil was applied to the skin. Did you know? Cedarwood has been found in mummies from as early as the eleventh dynasty of ancient Egypt!

Cedarwood trees can live more than 300 years and grow up to 120 feet tall that's why Cedar was used figuratively for 'immortality' by the Romans.

2. Atlas Cedarwood (Cedrus atlantica) - From the Cedar Genus

3. Texan Cedarwood (Juniperus Mexicana) - From the Juniper Genus

4. Virginian Cedarwood (Juniperus virginiana) - From the Juniper Genus
